Mechanisms of pain and analgesic strategies
Pain constitutes a complicated integration of somatic perception and emotional experience. Persistent chronic pain drastically deteriorates patients’ life quality and triggers neuropsychiatric disorders including anxiety and depression. Our lab constructs a variety of chronic pain mouse models and employs a suite of approaches covering behavioral testing, electrophysiological recording, opto- and chemo-genetic manipulation, as well as viral neural tracing. We aim to systematically unravel the molecular substrates and circuit mechanisms driving pain chronification, and translate these basic findings into innovative analgesic interventions.
